Senior Movement Class with The Yard
On Thursday, July 3, at 2:00pm at the West Tisbury Library, The Yard presents a senior movement dance workshop with Naomi Goldberg Haas. This event is free and open to the public.
Naomi Goldberg Haas is founder of Dances For A Variable Population, a multigenerational dance company (aged 25–80) and educational organization committed to promoting strong and creative movement among older adults of all abilities, enabling them to build creativity, improve their mental and physical health, strengthen social connections, and enhance their quality of life. Through classes, dance workshops, and performances, using the power of dance, they build community by creating lively, fun, and beautifully executed theatrical dance with diverse individuals and professional dancers.
The core program called MOVEMENT SPEAKS® is an hour-long workshop taught by Artistic Director Naomi Goldberg Haas, who is available during the week of June 30th-July 5th, when she is a resident guest artist teaching another workshop at The Yard in Chilmark. MOVEMENT SPEAKS® offers movement practice for adults of all ages and abilities, with a special focus on older adult populations for strong and creative movement. Through the power of dance, individuals experience improved mental and physical health, greater social connection, and creative mastery.
