Online – Photo Engagement Project

The West Tisbury Library presents online gatherings of the Photo Engagement Project (PEP). This event meets on the first Thursday of each month at 5:30pm on Zoom. Please contact the West Tisbury Library to join by emailing wt_mail@clamsnet.org. Free and open to the public.

About the PEP:

This monthly gathering is open to people of all different ages, backgrounds, and experiences. Participants do not need to be photographers or live on-island. All are welcome, including children through to seniors, individuals who simply have an appreciation for photography, individuals who would like to learn or are just starting out, students, and amateurs and professionals.

The goal is to increase engagement in and enthusiasm for photography, at the level each individual chooses, whilst simultaneously encouraging each individual to do the same for others. In this way, the PEP hopes to promote an ongoing cycle of shared creative activity around the enjoyment of photography, and enhance wellbeing.

The PEP does not have a jurying process, and does not critique participants’ work. It is designed to increase accessibility and engagement; help develop confidence, ideas, and connections; and offer opportunities for people to receive, and give, help in a safe and supportive environment. Participants are not required to attend every meeting.

At meetings, each participant will be asked to contribute something small, as we all have something to give, as well as learn. Some ideas may include: bringing a few of your own photos, images of a photographer’s work that inspires you, a quote or excerpt from a book/magazine, tips, news of artist opportunities/workshops, or potential project proposals such as a photo walk, printing images, or outreaching to an island organization.
