Book Talk with Bruce Bullen

On Sunday, October 19 at 2:30pm, at the West Tisbury Library, local author Bruce Bullen will give a talk about his new novel, In Hilldale. Free and open to the public.

About the book: “A retired Massachusetts lawyer navigates small-town life and a shady past, while finding common ground amidst a local rebellion and mafia entanglement. Struggles with identity and isolation unfold against a political backdrop.

Seeking a calm life, a recently divorced lawyer relocates to Hilldale, a small town in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, only to find himself embroiled in a complex and deeply rooted culture…”

Bruce Bullen is a resident of West Tisbury. He and his wife Maria retired to Martha’s Vineyard from Boston in 2019 after pursuing careers in health program administration and the law, respectively. Bruce’s daughter Alexandra, the Executive Director of ACE-MV, also lives in West Tisbury with her husband Eliot Coutts and Bruce’s and Maria’s three grandchildren.

Bruce began writing in retirement with a focus on short fiction. He has been a participant in John Hough’s writers’ group, and six of his short stories have appeared in online and hardcover literary journals. In Hilldale is his first novel.
