Presentation: Volunteer Community Care Circles for After-Death Care

On Sunday, November 16, at 2:15pm, join us at the West Tisbury Library for a Death Education Presentation titled, “Volunteer Community Care Circles for After-Death Care.” Join Heather Massey (community death educator, end-of-life specialist, and consumer advocate for post-death options) and co-presenters Joyce Maxner and Beth Kramer, (representatives of the newly established group Island Volunteer Community Care Circle for After-Death Care), for an in-depth exploration of volunteer based post-death community care circles in general, and the ideas behind the local efforts being made to create an option for post-death support and care in the home or community, conceived and delivered amongst neighbors and friends on this island setting.

Heather will discuss what constitutes a “Volunteer Community Care Circle for After-Death Care” and an overview and other examples of community-based post-death care volunteer teams nationally.

Joyce and Beth will discuss efforts to create a locally based care circle to respond and assist in the home (or a community setting) post-death.
