Improv Acting Class

Starting Sunday, October 6th, from 12-2pm, join us at the West Tisbury Library for a weekly improv acting class with instructor Heidi Drew. Meets Sundays from 12-2pm: October 6, 20, 27, and Nov. 3 (skipping Oct. 13). Sign up is encouraged by emailing wt_mail@clamsnet.org. Free and open to the public.

Improv Acting Class is designed to activate imagination, spontaneity, and a sense of humor through adult (16 and older) play. You don’t need any previous experience. Heidi teaches traditional improvisational acting warm-ups, exercises, and scenes that are performed for each other. Each class will focus on specific skills. There is no right or wrong. There is only good and better. Heidi will occasionally side coach. Give yourself a positive attitude adjustment with Improv and build your communication and storytelling skills. If participants are interested, we can try to have a show.

Heidi Drew has been practicing improv for 20 years. Her first live improv show was here on Martha’s Vineyard in 1993. She first started taking classes in Wellington, New Zealand, and Santa Cruz, California. She has since attended many workshops, improv camps, and festivals.  She has taught in California, New Zealand, and here on the island. She continues to take classes with professional improvisers, mostly online now.
