Introducing the West Tisbury Library \u201cCommunity Freedge\u201d<\/p>\n
Martha\u2019s Vineyard is committed to fighting food insecurity and inequality across the island. Now
we have one more source for the community to access food year-round at the West Tisbury
Free Public Library in our Community \u201cFreedge\u201d (free fridge) and pantry. This space, in the main
lobby of the library, is open to all.
Everyone is welcome to drop off fresh, uncut produce or unexpired canned goods, and
everyone is welcome to take what they\u2019d like whenever the library is open.
Thanks to funding from the MV Community Fund and the West Tisbury Library Foundation, the
library was able to purchase a refrigerator and have pantry shelves installed. Once the pantry
area was complete, generous contributions from Island Grown Initiative, Slough Farms, the MV
Fishermen\u2019s Preservation Trust, and Good Shepherd Parish food program are keeping the
fridge,\u00a0freeze and pantry area stocked with produce, frozen meals, soups, stews, and canned
goods.<\/p>\n
