Free and open to the public!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This quartet led by NYC-based guitarist Joel Harrison will play his original music and jazz tunes. Of note in this performance are island-born Chico Huff, one of the great electric bassists, and legendary Afro-Cuban\/Jazz drummer Robby Ameen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Guitarist, composer, arranger, lyricist, writer, educator, and vocalist Joel Harrison has \u201ccreated a new blueprint for jazz\u201d (New Orleans Times-Picayune). A Guggenheim Fellow (2010) whose compositions have been commissioned by Chamber Music America, Meet the Composer, New Music USA, the Jerome Foundation, NYSCA, and the Mary Flagler Cary Trust., he has released 25 CDs as a leader on seven different labels. Harrison\u2019s music may be founded on jazz but veers into classical, rock, country, and all manner of American roots music. Succinctly described by the New York Times as \u201cprotean\u2026 brilliant,\u201d he has also written multiple works for chamber ensembles and is an active film composer, having worked on the Oscar-nominated Traffic Stop and the Sundance awardee Southern Comfort.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Harrison is the founder and director of the Alternative Guitar Summit, a yearly festival devoted to new and unusual guitar music. Pat Metheny has called the Summit \u201cone of the most interesting and distinguished forums for guitar on the planet.
