Ayurveda Workshop: Kindling Digestive Fire
On Saturday, January 7, at 2:30pm, come to the West Tisbury Library for “Kindling Digestive Fire,” an Ayurveda workshop with Sonja Josephson and Jacqueline Foster. During this 2-hour workshop we will explore agni, the digestive fire of the body, and how we can support a healthy agni through diet and lifestyle practices. We will also explore how agni functions in the mental and spiritual domains in its role of transforming and processing that which we ingest. You will leave this workshop with practical ways to support your digestive fire, including recipes for a three-day digestive reset. Please sign up for this workshop by emailing email@example.com.
Free and open to the public. This program is sponsored by the West Tisbury and Vineyard Haven libraries.
Ayurveda is an elemental science, offering a framework of holistic healing which connects the individual to the qualities and rhythms of nature. Ayurveda teaches us that the five great elements of ether, air, fire, water and earth are present within the world at large, as well as in our bodies. These elements have innate qualities, which we can learn to understand in order to create balance in our bodies and minds. The teachings of Ayurveda offer insight on how we can utilize day to day practices and dietary choices in order to bring the elements and their qualities back into a state of balance.
