Online! Balance: Chi Kung, Yoga & Breath

On Mondays and Fridays at 11:30am, the West Tisbury Library will host an online Balance Series led by Kanta Lipsky. In this class, we will explore ways to strengthen our connection to the earth and increase our bodies’ ability to maintain good balance. No yoga mat needed, but a chair will be necessary for some of the movements. 

Classes will meet virtually through Zoom. All are welcome. Please contact wt_mail@clamsnet.org to sign up. Free and open to the public.

Kanta Lipsky is a massage therapist and yoga teacher. She is also a painter, dancer, and singer who has been exploring alternative forms of healing and well being for many years.

On Monday, May 10 at 7pm, the West Tisbury Library will host its monthly “Writers Read” evening online through Zoom. This event, led by Niki Patton, features community members reading short original prose pieces. Both fiction and nonfiction readings are welcome. Each reader is allotted eight minutes to read. CLASS FULL! Online Free-Write Poetry Class – Series 9

CLASS FULL! Online Free-Write Poetry Class (series 9)

Starting Thursday, April 15 at 4pm, the West Tisbury Library will host another online Free-Write Poetry Class led by West Tisbury Poet Laureate Spencer Thurlow. In this class, we will do five four-minute free-write sessions. After each session, writers will be encouraged to read their work to the group, but it is not required. A prompt will be given for each free-write so that we all begin with the same line, but of course, after that, writers are free to go in any direction they choose.

Come connect and get creative with us! Classes will meet virtually through Zoom on six Thursdays at 4pm. Class will be limited to five participants. Sign up is required. Please email wt_mail@clamsnet.org. Class dates: 4/15, 4/22, 4/29. 5/6, 5/13, and 5/20. Free and open to the public!

All-Levels Kripalu Flow Class
Virtual Yoga Hosted by the West Tisbury Library

Starting Friday, March 27 at 8am, the West Tisbury Library will host an online all-levels Kripalu Flow Class led by Jason Mazar-Kelly (Yogijay). Classes will meet virtually through Zoom on Fridays at 8am. This class is focused on soothing the nervous system through a combination of movement, breathwork, and meditation. This class is accessible to all levels and is a fun way to wake up while starting the day with a sense of peace in these times of uncertainty. Sign up is required. About the instructor:

Jason is a certified yoga instructor, mindfulness consultant, business consultant, private chef, and CPA. From meditation and breathwork to hot vinyasa and pranic flows, Jason likes to share a variety of tools and techniques with practitioners at all levels. At the age of 12, Jason was diagnosed with severe obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). For the majority of his teenage years he struggled with OCD until finding yoga and mindfulness therapy. The practices he shares are practices he has worked with since 2011. Since 2014, he has shared these practices with communities around New England. His practices have been discovered through personal inquiry as well as through training, research, and mentorships. He will not only challenge you physically but will also challenge you to go deeper, to step into rigorous personal inquiry, and to engage with sensation. Discover the sweetness that comes from stepping outside of your comfort zone and into being fully alive.
