Martha’s Vineyard Community of Mindfulness Practice Series
We invite you to join our Sangha, the Martha’s Vineyard Community of Mindfulness, at the West Tisbury Library. We practice in the tradition of Engaged Buddhism of Vietnamese Zen monk, activist, poet, teacher and prolific author, Thich Nhat Hanh. Each week we meet for one hour, with silent sitting for 20 minutes, followed by a reading of Buddhist text, and then time for sharing about our practice. All adults are welcome, whether or not you have meditated before.
You need a Sangha;
You need a brother or sister or friend to remind you what you already know.
The Dharma is in you, but it needs to be watered in order to manifest and become a reality.
– Thich Nhat Hanh
We have the great challenge of living in a loving and compassionate way in a world where fear is prevalent, and winning, success, money and materialism are often valued most. We practice together to support one another in cultivating understanding, compassion and love for ourselves, and for all beings.
Please bring your own cushion if you do not want to use a chair.
