Knitters on the Move
While the new Library is under construction, the Monday evening knitters' group will temporarily meet at Howes House on State Road across from Alley's General Store. Not at the temporary Library. The times are the same, Mondays from 7 to 9 pm. All ages and skill levels are welcome. Bring your latest knitting or crochet project and share your favorite yarns. You'll be "in stitches."

We have moved to a new location (for a while) |
| |
We'll be here: (temporarily) 4 Cournoyer Rd., #D West Tisbury (across from Conroy's Apothecary) Here's a Map |
| |
When we move back, it will look like this: (kind of): See the architects' latest renderings of the new Library HERE . |
| |
Our temporary location is at: Middletown Village - across the street from Conroy’s Apothecary in North Tisbury. |
| |
Because it is basically a small, cozy and intimate space, we will have room for our newest materials-adult, children, teen books and DVDs. We will have WiFi and laptops, passport applications, inter-library loan, printing, copying and fax available for public use. We are storing our Library materials at other institutions (schools, other libraries, non-profit groups) and at the Airport Storage. They will not be accessible until we reopen in our expanded space, but, since we will be joining the CLAMS library network, most books will be readily available.
Our hope is to re-open with our fabulous renovated and enlarged space in our current location by January 2014. Books that are checked out with a due date before Oct 15 can be returned here, books due and returned after October 15 can be returned to the Middletown Village location. We will be maintaining our website, so feel free to look there for up to date information. Our phone number will remain the same as will our friendly and helpful staff.
Please bear with us during this exciting transition. We are looking forward to helping you, our patrons, in any way we can while we inch our way closer to the finished project. |

At Town Meeting, and at the polls, West Tisbury overwhelmingly supported the West Tisbury Free Public Library's renovation and expansion — as have private donors every step of the way. WE DID IT! Thanks to you, we'll get our much-needed program room, young adults area, many "green" features, and space for readers of all ages!
The library will move to temporary quarters when construction begins in November of 2012, and will re-open in late 2013. |

“West Tisbury has an extraordinary characteristic, that I don’t believe could be claimed for any other town, that I know of anyway,” he said. “Eighty-nine per cent of the population of West Tisbury has a library card. You can double check that with the librarian.” From the Gazette: "Gracefully Tapping the Keys of History", an interview with David McCullough. |
