Holes in the Floor: Concert with Four Cellos
November 3rd at 3:00 pm, Holes in the Floor cello quartet will return to the West Tisbury Library to close the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Society Cello Festival. You may remember rocking out to the groovy caricatures in Jeremy Crosmer’s First Suite for Cello Quartet last spring. Holes in the Floor is coming back with a whole new setlist of masterworks programmed around Jeremy’s Second Suite, which is an entirely new potpourri of personalities. You may even get a whiff of Dubstep and Sherlock Holmes along the way, and the performance will be bookended with Vivaldi’s “Winter” and Piazzolla’s “Invierno Porteño.” The musicians will also share other special jewels from their repertoire as well as two delightful arrangements of Mendelssohn’s Songs by West Tisbury’s very own Heidi Schultz. This event is free and open to the public.
Holes in the Floor is comprised of cellists who have each built global reputations winning major prizes in numerous international string competitions. A relatively new addition to the international musical community, the ensemble strives to redefine the popularity and expressive potential of classical music through exciting and engaging performances and presentations of beloved classics as well as new commissions and premieres. The November concert will be performed by Audrey Chen, Eunghee Cho, Yejin Hong, and Joy Yanai.
