chamber musicThe West Tisbury Library will be hosting weekly open chamber music rehearsals on most fall and winter Fridays. The rehearsals are facilitated by Island violinist César Atzíc Márquez. Attend as an audience member, or bring your instrument and join in. Audience questions are welcomed — these rehearsals are meant to be educational and fun. Free and open to the public.

Cesar Atzic Marquez-Abadiano, a native of Yucatán, México, has enjoyed 45 years of his life totally immersed in Music including violin/viola, chamber ensembles, symphony orchestras, opera and ballet, as well as a degree in symphonic conducting.  A lifelong member of the TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association), as well as a member of the El Paso Symphony Orchestra, the UN symphony, the 92 St. “Y” Symphony, and in México, the OSEM, the OSPB,  and the OFCM, the top three symphonies in the country.  Atzíc has been playing music on the Vineyard for 15 years.   Through his work with island churches, MV Hospital, and Windemere, Atzíc  has brought his gift of music to children, elders, as well as to inmates at the Dukes County Jail and House of Correction.  He enjoys teaching privately, and treasures the opportunity to help bring specialized music to occasions like weddings, memorials, and celebrations of life.

Atzic Says:

“This is a project primarily to have a regular chamber music venue for local musicians who have had some training and would like to experience the miracle of “spontaneous combustion” with like-minded folks. And also to give both music students and the public in general the chance to experience the live rehearsal process, and have the opportunity to interact and ask questions as the program develops. The sessions can and do take a life of their own, depending on who shows up. That’s why it’s so exciting and energetic, as you never know what will happen. We welcome pianists, string and wind players, guitarists and singers. Bring what printed music you might want to share, and a good disposition to learn, grow and have FUN!!! Children, students and older adults most welcome.”
