Parkinson’s Disease & Dementia with Lewy Bodies
On Tuesday, November 13 from 10:30-11:30am, the West Tisbury Library will host a talk with Stephen Gomperts, MD, PhD. At this event, Dr. Gomperts will give a presentation about Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia with Lewy Bodies. Refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.
Dr. Gomperts is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and the Director of the Lewy Body Dementia Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital, a Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA) Research Center of Excellence. He attended medical school and graduate school in Neuroscience at the University of California, San Francisco before completing his Neurology residency in the Harvard Program at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a research fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and clinical fellowships in Movement Disorders and Memory Disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital. He sees patients in the Lewy Body Dementia Unit, the Movement Disorders Unit, and the Memory Disorders Unit at the Massachusetts General Hospital. His lab focuses on Parkinson’s Disease, Dementia with Lewy Bodies, and Alzheimer’s Disease, which he studies both in preclinical models and in humans with PET molecular imaging.
