On Tuesday, June 30 @ 5pm, in the spirit of The Moth, the West Tisbury Library will be hosting a Community Storytelling Event (for adults) featuring writer and actress Maia Morgan. Community members will be invited to share their stories. There will be six community reading slots. If there are more than six readers, names will be drawn out of a hat. Each reader will have 5-8 minutes. This event is free and open to the public. Parents: please be aware that stories may contain adult content. Refreshments will be served.

Maia Morgan just finished a memoir, The Saltwater Twin and Other Mythical Creatures. She teaches writing and theater in schools, health care facilities, and jails in Chicago and blogs about words, memory, road trips, yoga and dogs at thesaltwatertwin.com. Her writing has appeared in The Best American Nonrequired Reading, Glamour, Creative Nonfiction, The Chattahoochee Review, Hayden’s Ferry Review, and on themanifeststation.net. Maia remembers her mother and aunt casually strolling down the Menemsha Pond beach in the ‘70s in an effort to catch a glimpse of James Taylor and Carly Simon.
