Second Sunday Jazz with Eric Johnson
Second Sunday Jazz Series at the West Tisbury Library
Presented by Eric Johnson
On Sunday, December 11 at 3:30 pm, the public are invited to a live jazz concert featuring John Alaimo on piano, Tauras Biskis on drums, and Eric Johnson on bass. This event is part of a jazz series presented by Island jazz musician Eric Johnson on the second Sunday of each month from December 2016 through April 2017 at the West Tisbury Library. Refreshments will be served. Thank you to the Friends of the West Tisbury Library and the West Tisbury Library Foundation for their generous support of music programming. These concerts are free and open to the public.
Pianist John Alaimo has been a mainstay on the Vineyard music scene for many years. His unique arrangements of jazz standards are full of surprises. He’ll be joined by drummer Tauras Biskis and bassist/guitarist Eric Johnson.
Eric Johnson studied jazz and classical guitar at the New England Conservatory. In his twenties he lived and performed/recorded in Boston and Brooklyn, NY. After meeting his future wife in 1995 (on a Black Dog Tavern blind date) he moved to the Vineyard, where he had visited annually since early childhood. An Assistant Professor at Berklee College of Music for seven years, he now focuses on performing and teaching on the Island. He is grateful for his fellow Vineyard jazz musicians, who make living on Martha’s Vineyard musically rewarding.
