Holes in the Floor: A Cello Quartet

Holes in the Floor: A Cello Quartet

On Saturday, April 13 at 3:30pm at the West Tisbury Library, the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Society will present a spring concert with the Boston-based cello quartet, Holes in the Floor. Dedicated to exploring new avenues of beauty and expression, Holes in the Floor comprises the artistry and virtuosity of its members: Jonathan Butler, Eunghee Cho, Jiyoung Lee, and Joy Yanai. Alongside works by J.S. Bach, Monteverdi, and Debussy, this performance will include the New England premiere of Jeremy Crosmer’s “Suite for Cello Quartet” and a brand new transcription of Keith Jarrett’s meditation on the beloved jazz standard “Blame it on My Youth.”

Holes in the Floor is comprised of cellists who have each built global reputations winning major prizes in numerous international string competitions. A relatively new addition to the international musical community, the ensemble strives to redefine the popularity and expressive potential of classical music through exciting and engaging performances and presentations of beloved classics as well as new commissions and premieres.

This concert is free, open to the public, and made possible by the Martha’s Vineyard Cultural Council, the West Tisbury Library Foundation, and the Friends of the West Tisbury Library. Refreshments will be served.
