June 13, 2019 @ 11:30 am – 1:00 pm

Graceful Somatic Transformation Workshop

On Thursday, June 13 at 11:30am, certified Graceful Somatic Transformation (GST) instructor Lisa Gross will lead a free workshop at the West Tisbury Library. Through traction and movement sequences, participants will learn to deepen their stretch for optimal length, strength, mobility, and stability, work from the spine for postural alignment, reverse the “Postural Slump” by leveraging the spine muscles, offload stress on joints, and much more. GST is a holistic approach to body/mind fitness, and this workshop will provide an overview of the technique. If you like to move and discover new ways to access length and strength, you will love GST.

Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat. Space is limited, and sign up is recommended. Please contact the library to reserve your space: 508-693-3366. This event is free and open to the public.

About the instructor:

After being summer residents on the Vineyard for many years, Lisa Gross and her husband, Adam, are now full-time residents of West Tisbury. Lisa attended Bard College as a dance/composition major and went on to dance and teach fitness in New York and Westchester County. Lisa studied Pilates for 12 years and is a long-time practitioner of Yoga. She discovered GST seven years ago in Los Angeles and trained under the tutelage of Anna Rahe, the founder and creator of GST.  Lisa is now a certified instructor and is grateful and excited to bring this transformative technique to the Vineyard.

More about the class:

Through traction and movement sequences-
• Deepen your stretch for optimal length and strength, mobility and stability
• Open and expand from the inside out
• Work from your spine for postural alignment, strength and flexibility
• Reverse the “Postural Slump,” by leveraging the spine muscles
• Offload stress on joints
• Move fascia through tension lines of overworked and hardened muscle tissue
• Experience our Continuum Flow movement to stimulate all metabolic processes

A GST class can be geared to different levels, Conscious Conditioning is more intensive and faster paced. For those who want to work slow and deep for postural realignment or targeting areas of pain we offer Anti-Aging (for all ages) and Movement Medicine classes and private sessions.
This workshop will provide an overview of the technique and classes. If you like to move, and discover new pathways to access length and strength you will love GST. It is a whole new experience!
