Free Kindermusik Classes for Babies

Starting Tuesday, May 29th at 10:30am, Rebekah Nivala will lead a series of four Kindermusik classes for babies and their caregivers at the West Tisbury Library. Come enjoy a sensory-rich and caring environment where infants can explore new sounds and make music together! Shared activities for babies and their caregivers provide the opportunity to strengthen your connection with your child through joyful music-making experiences. This workshop is for newborns through 12 months. This series is free and open to the public. Sign up is required. Please commit to all four sessions: 5/29, 6/5, 6/12, 6/19.

Rebekah Nivala believes education in and through the arts is a wonderful facilitator of developing creativity, critical thinking, and empathy. Through leading early childhood music classes, she hopes to provide a beautiful space for collaborative work and discovery among children and their parents. Rebekah holds a B.Mus. in Piano Performance from Wheaton College and Ed.M. in Arts in Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education. She has over 5 years of experience teaching music and art in the greater Chicago and Boston areas, Martha’s Vineyard, China, and Indonesia.

  • Listening to and experiencing songs & rhymes
  • Vocal plays to build neural pathways in a baby’s developing brain
  • Exploring baby-safe instruments
  • Baby-caregiver bonding exercises, including story time, massage, and relaxation activities
