Capturing Our Moment: A Presentation with Dan Waters

Capturing Our Moment:
A Presentation with Dan Waters

On Saturday, November 9 at 3:30pm, join us at the West Tisbury Library for an afternoon presentation by Dan Waters. Using traditional photographic film, Dan Waters has spent the past year and a half capturing everyday life on Martha’s Vineyard for a “time capsule” to be preserved in the MV Museum archives. A selection of his photos are currently on display in the Museum’s exhibit “Face Value.” Dan will share his images, insights, and challenges in this talk that raise questions about our daily choices, things we take for granted, and how we’ll look from the viewpoint of future generations. Refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.

Dan Waters was born in New Jersey, raised in Brazil, and moved to Martha’s Vineyard in 1977. He has a Bachelor’s degree in English from Wesleyan University and a black belt in Aikido, a Japanese martial art. He’s been a shoe salesman, a printer, a fund-raiser, and a musician. He was West Tisbury’s first Poet Laureate and is currently our Town Moderator. He has been a photographer all his life.
